Canstruction, Mazes and Hallways

jill here...  Washington DC has some great architecture, outdoor and in.  Last weekend we opted for the indoor version where there was an exhibit of "Canstruction", displays constructed from cans.

We were moving fast due to active little feet (not much time to read)....

You get the picture...very creative ways to build an idea..

This one represents a "Willy Wonka"  candy factory.

This is the impressive building.  Large columns and arched hallways surround the atrium.  The lower portion of the photograph is a large scale maze.

Fun to observe from above without even entering.

Looking even higher is impressive.

The best parts of the building were the hallways...open for a toddler to make a run on a rainy day.
'Till next Tuesday....

So cool, the Ice Bucket Challenge

Marny here…with something a bit different and personal; my husband challenging other Iowa State team physicians with the Ice Bucket Challenge.  Way to go Pete!!  Hope you all can see the 23 second movie.

Social media has so much potential for good.  The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is an example of social media creating a platform for raising money for and creating an awareness of an extraordinarily important cause.  Here is a link to the ALS Association website.  You can find out a great deal about this progressive neurodegenerative disease and about donating to the association.  The Ice Bucket challenge donations have exceeded expectations and an incredible number of new donors have chosen to contribute. It has been a Facebook and Twitter endeavor, but blogging a bit can't hurt!

I first became aware of the Ice Bucket Challenge on NFL Countdown the other night (I think it was Thursday).  I know, I know…NFL Countdown.  Chris Berman not only gets his own bucket of water, but Cris Carter's aim is poor and soaks Berman with another bucket full.

Then other videos started trickling in on Facebook, emails, and conversations.  Here is a very touching one.  It puts a human face, and a lovingly humorous face at that, on the challenge.

On Friday I received a "Count Your Blessings" bracelet from dear friends.  The week points me in the direction of just that!! Hug your loved ones, enjoy the good moments, and be grateful.

Till Tuesday…

Support Team Cooks Up Tasty Measures

jill here....Our Tasty Measures samples just returned from the Sisters, Oregon show.  Wish we could have seen all the fun quilts.  Back in Iowa, we just couldn't get by without the help of our fan friends!  Isn't this baby Tasty Measures cute as a kitten?  This clever quilter lengthened it to just the right size (for this baby).

The measures are perfect for the scale of fabric prints.

The active cats are a great focus and the little red print adds that pizzazz!

I'm curious about what the print says... Now why isn't there a puppy print as cute as this?

'till next Tuesday....

Stash Book authors

Marny here…very simple post today.  We are Stash Book authors.  Our rough draft was sent in yesterday.  Now we await further instructions and bind all our quilts like mad before sending them off.  Our publication date of October 2015 seems so far away, but from what we hear, the months will fly by.
