I'm new to quilting. I haven't bought patterns but I have bought books with patterns in them.
3. Yes to quilting books provided there are several patterns in the book that appeal to me. I won't buy a book for a single pattern I like. Or at least I don't think I would.
4. While I like photos of the quilts in various settings and stylized placements, I really NEED to see if flat out.
5. I love to see more than one variation of a pattern. I need all the inspiration I can get! Sometimes a fabric doesn't do anything for me at all until I see it made into a quilt and sometimes a quilt pattern doesn't do it for me until I see it in a fabric that, for me, really brings it to life. Do you prefer traditional or modern design?
I ...1. Do you prefer traditional or modern design?
I don't have a preference. I choose designs based on my reaction to them, how they call to me, not the style.

2. Do you buy quilting patterns?
Yes. You may not believe it but I just received a new pattern in the mail earlier in the week...and have already started working on it. the pattern? TV Dinner!!!

3. Do you buy quilting books?
I've started to. I've only been quilting 2 years and have learned enough skills that I am now building a quilting library.

4. Flat or draped?
I'm more the artistic eye type of buyer. I like to see care and detail to making the quilt look like a part of my life. Draped, wrapped around someone, hanging off a railing. These make it look appealing to me. Flat, well anyone can do flat, and I'm not the type of quilter to be concerned with seeing every corner. I can adapt if there is a detail that I later don't want to use.

5. Options - I like seeing more then one option. Not because I need help picking out fabrics, I enjoy the fun of that myself. I like to see more of what the designer likes to do, see where their creative talents and colour eye take them. It makes me feel like the designer is someone I can work with (is that odd? we are working together if you think about it).Vivian Bhttp://www.quiltingunderthemidnigtsun.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3237207686517483510.post-77368248724731820222011-08-14T00:21:47.415-05:002011-08-14T00:21:47.415-05:001. Do you buy quilting patterns? Rarely.
3. Do you buy quilting books? More often than patterns!
4. Flat or draped? I insist on seeing a full representation of the quilt. If it's bunchy I won't buy. Your drapings are great - I can see 75% of the quilt and I'm sure that I like the shapes and proportions of the whole quilt.
5.
