Sack of evenly cut strips too good to toss.
The strong verticals have taken over the original random scraps, but we will see where it ends up. I will keep picking it up and adding to it over the next week. It is my current productive procrastination method--you know, doing "something" but not the "thing" you should be doing.
Busy times for Modern Quilt Relish right now. New patterns are being designed, trunk shows are being developed, and lots of preparations are underway for Spring Market in Salt Lake City.

ReplyDeleteI like to make a quilt big enough that it can be snuggled with on the couch. Somewhere in the range of 55" x 70" -ish. I should probably mention that I've only made two quilts though!
ReplyDeleteI try to make small quilts, but it seems that I end up making large quilts. Most of the time its at least a twin size.
ReplyDeleteSofa quilt I guess it would be called a throw is the most common size. But I have made my share of king/queen quilts. Irene
ReplyDeleteI would say I usually make Twin or larger for myself and throw or smaller for gifts.
ReplyDeleteright now seems they are all queen size! (but we now have 2 grandbabys on the way! so i have a couple baby quilts in my future)
ReplyDeleteI always seem to start out with the intention of creating a throw or lap quilt but somehow I end up wanting to add more fabrics or even out the colors or give it an extra row or or or or... and they seem to end up closer to full size or queen size quilts. It's a problem.
ReplyDeleteI love making baby quilt or small throws because I can quilt on my home machine. I hope in time to be able to quilt larger quilts as I get in more practice.
ReplyDeleteFor holiday gifts I made a couple of flannel throw size quilts. And several tablerunners as gifts. Then I caught the "bag" bug and have made 25 + little bags and coin purses. I am looking forward to making Brioche and Baguette as a gift soon---in aquas and soft greens. It will be a queen size. It's fun to have so many choices.
ReplyDeleteI am busy right now working on seven quilts for graduation gifts and all are throw or lap size (68 x 68) - the perfect size for a dorm room or sofa. I have made my share of larger ones, too - but the smaller size go together much faster!

ReplyDeleteLately I've been making lots of smaller projects--table runners, candlemats, small wall hangings, but still making some larger quilts as well. Mostly I'm wanting that instant gratification!

My favorite size is 70 x 90 or 80 x 80. Really, though, any size gives me satisfaction, because I construct many crib- and baby-sized quilts also.
