I started with the Marimekko Lumimarja, whites and grays on a white background.
Part of the panel was cut into 6.5 inch blocks, keeping them in their design order. Six fabrics were added, scaled according to value, varying in color, pattern and luster.
The slightly darker sashing fabric (cut 1.5 inches) had some blendable aspects of texture and color.
On the design board, the blocks (7x8) were arranged until I found a pleasing balance. I maintained the directional pattern of the branches amidst the other blocks leading the eye upward.....Jill
